James Dean fell in love with Jaguars when he bought his first XK120 in 1967, while at Colgate University. After graduating with a degree in Anthropology in 1968, he drove the Jaguar to Boston, lived on Beacon Hill and after some Corporate positions, started a Jaguar shop in Cambridge. In 1972 he took a 2 week vacation to the Bahamas on a 147 foot Grand Banks Schooner, but after one week was hired as Engineer, After a winter sailnng in the Bahamas he moved to South Florida, and was First Mate Engineer on a Feadship motor yacht. In 1975 he started Old English Motor Company in an old Marina in a coconut grove in Fort Lauderdale doing world class restoration of Jaguar and other Classic English cars, and acquiring a huge parts inventory. Downtown development was a problem, as every 5 years a developer bought and bulldozed the rented property. Finally in 2015, the move was finished of 60 tons of classic parts to Sebring, a lovely Old Florida town , quiet except during race week, and parts are sold all over the world. The eBay store, Old English Motor Company, with an eBay name of thejaguru, also appears on 6 overseas sites.. Unlike most parts sellers, Mr. Dean gives free restoration advice.
